BEAUFORT PERSONAL TRAINER: LOWER YOUR RISK FOR CANCER WITH REGULAR EXERCISE
Cancer is certainly no laughing matter, but once in awhile there is positive news about this serious and often fatal disease.
In the case of colon cancer (also referred to as colorectal cancer), the good news is that simple measures such as regular Beaufort fitness activity and a healthy diet can drastically reduce the incidence, recurrence, and death from this type of cancer.
This message is even more pertinent now because March is the Colon Cancer Awareness Month, so the focus will be on the proactive prevention of this disease, which is the third leading cause of cancer related deaths in the United States.
Numerous studies have shown that people who exercise regularly can reduce the risk of developing colon cancer by as much as 30 to 40 percent as compared to those who are sedentary, says Beaufort personal trainers. If that’s not enough compelling evidence to make people get off the couch and start moving, we at EarthFIT don’t know what is.
How does exercise help stave off colon cancer, which is estimated to claim over 50,000 lives this year? The exact mechanism is not yet known, but we do know that the risk of developing this type of cancer increases if you are physically inactive, obese, and partake in a diet high in red or processed meat, refined grains, and saturated fats. So it’s only logical that if you eliminate all those risk factors and replace them with exercise or a Beaufort fitness routine with your Beaufort personal trainer and a good nutrition plan consisting of fruit, vegetables, whole grains and healthy fats, you will be doing yourself a huge, healthy favor.
Besides Beaufort fitness and healthy diet (as well as giving up smoking), doctors also recommend that people over 50 be screened for colon cancer. Studies show that if everyone in that age group had regular screening tests, at least 30 percent of deaths from this disease could be avoided as polyps can be detected and eliminated earlier.
Beaufort personal trainers point out that Beaufort fitness activity plays an important role in prevention of other diseases as well. The beauty of a regular workout routine is that it can keep other medical conditions at bay as well. Exercise has been proven very beneficial in preventing other forms of cancer, as well as heart disease, diabetes, and osteoporosis. The list of diseases that can be avoided or treated with exercise and a healthy lifestyle is long.
And, Beaufort fitness experts note that you don’t have to be an athlete or exercise at a very strenuous level to boost your immunity to colon cancer and other diseases. A mix of cardio, strength, endurance and flexibility training for at least half an hour three to five days a week will work wonders. That’s one message we should all keep in mind this March and the other 11 months of the year.

Hey EF Fam,
I have a quick story for you…
My grandfather (Jim), we call him Poppy, grew up in “Hell’s Kitchen” NYC during the height of The Depression. For those who may not be familiar with “Hell’s Kitchen”, it was an Irish neighborhood known for being one of the poorest of places in NYC.
Needles to say, my grandfather was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Hell’s Kitchen was a gangster’s neighborhood and business was booming during Prohibition and The Depression. As Poppy has mentioned, a shoot out and killing in the street was as much a part of life as being poor. Luckily, Jim had a mother who was smart and loving.
As the story goes, my grandfather was the only one who made it out of his neighborhood without ending up dead or in jail. But he didn’t make it out without a warped relationship with money as many Depression kids did. Although, I can’t judge him, because his relationship with money might have been necessary for him to strive for better and make it out of his neighborhood, up to The Bronx – at the time, The Bronx was considered the suburbs, haha! Times have changed! And from The Bronx to his dream place in Connecticut, which for a kid from his neighborhood was liking hitting the lotto.
Anyway, my Grandfather tended to have a scarcity mentality about money that had a ripple-effect throughout the family. My father carried with him the same values or ideas about money and I too adopted that mindset. You might know the mentality of “Eat all the food on that plate, other people are starving”, “you don’t know the value of a dollar”, “money doesn’t grow on trees”, etc. I began to educate myself about mindset and belief systems that can hold us back and prevent us from fulfilling our potential. I had to let go of my old beliefs about money to get me where I am today. If I didn’t let go of those beliefs, I would have never started EarthFIT. I would have just saved my money and existed in the “security” of a good job and decent paycheck, scared to venture out and follow my dreams for fear of failure and loss of money. Since I let go of my old beliefs I was able to invest all my savings into EarthFIT and create a service better than any other. When I let go of a scarcity mindset and changed it into an abundance mentality – which is, what GREAT value can I offer the world? and implemented that – it really changed my life and was a freeing experience; much like being in good shape. And being in good shape has EVERYTHING to do with mindset and beliefs as well.
I see this mentality and ripple-effect when it comes to people’s health. They are afraid to invest in their health, even though they need it more than any other thing in life. More than they need a house, a car, some of them need it more than food to be honest. But they don’t budget health and fitness into their lifestyle, of course wine fits in the budget though :).
Don’t be a slave to old beliefs; our beliefs can enslave or liberate us. When you invest in your health and fitness, there will be a ripple-effect to your family, friends and others in the community as you may have already experienced. This is not an opinion, this is a fact that has been researched. Studies aside, I see it everyday of my life.
Here are a few examples: A girl starts training at EarthFIT and her boyfriend decides to start going to the gym and eating better and as a consequence loses weight. Or a jealous husband sees his wife getting incredible results from EarthFIT and decides to join. That might be the only time when jealousy is a positive motivator 🙂
This weekend we are having a Charity Bootcamp and it is a perfect opportunity to invite all your friends and family and create a “Ripple Effect” of health, fitness and philanthropy.
If you and your friends can make it that would be awesome! Here are the deets:
This Saturday, March 2nd at 9:30am, at the Lady’s Island location, we are hosting BootCamp For A Cause. It is a great cause at that. All donations are going to help an underprivileged student athlete pay for college through the Len Miret Memorial Scholarship which is a local charity.
We would love not only for you to join in on this great cause, but also for ALL your friends and family to join us. Please spread the word so that we can hit our goal of $1000. The minimum donation is $15 for attendees. You can sign up for the bootcamp through the link below, or give a donation if you are unable to attend but would still like to give to the cause.
Committed to your success,
Ian
