Healthy Dessert
“Hey! My name is Ian Hart and I’m a fitness expert and owner of EarthFIT Personal Training Facilities as well as Back Pain Relief4Life. Today what I am going through with you is a healthy dessert and after this video, you’ll be able to make this healthy dessert for your family and they probably won’t even be able to tell that it’s all natural, organic and completely healthy for them.
The first ingredient that is in there is the coconut. And shortly I’m going to chop this thing open with a machete – so stand by, that is going to be interesting, because I don’t know how it’s going to turn out. But before I do that, I wanted to explain to you about the coconut. First off, it is high in fat and there are a lot of calories in it and that could be the down side if you’re someone who is trying to lose weight and is on a calorie-restricted diet, but remember this is a dessert, so this will be a time to splurge. So, the coconut has a medium-chain fatty acid and what that means is it’s not like a high, a long-chain fatty acid which would be saturated fats. So actually this is been shown to contribute to decreasing the bad cholesterol and increasing the good cholesterol. It also has good minerals like potassium, and potassium is vital for muscle growth but it’s also vital for the regulation of liquid in your cells or water in your cells, which is important for everything we do in life. You also want to get raw and natural coconut meat, I’m going to chop this open but you should be able to find raw, organic coconut meat at your local health food store. Where I lived here, you can find that at Herban Marketplace. It’s also high in lauric acid. Lauric acid is antimicrobial and antiviral; so there are a lot of good properties that come from this. In fact in some places they’ve actually have been known to use coconut water in the IV for rehydration and just helping people to rehydrate and get liquid back into the body.
So the first ingredient we have here is the coconut. Then we have the cup of bananas and – you can use 1 or 2 bananas it depends on what you like. I also have frozen strawberries dessert. These are actually organic strawberries that I bought at Whole Foods and I froze them for later. And then people always ask me what protein is best for them to use. A few proteins that I suggest. One of them being Plant Fusion. Plant Fusion is great! Not only is it not very expensive but it’s actually hypoallergenic – it has no dairy no soy, no animal, and it is easily digestible, so it is absorbed in the body fast and it is a great protein. So that’s the ingredients. I’m also going to add some ice into it. So I’ve got my trusty machete here.
For me this is the exciting part of the day. It is actually opening up the coconut and this is what I like to do with a machete. You might not want to do that, so you can go get the coconut meat at a health store. All right. So when I open this coconut, I personally like to cut on the outside because I want to open the whole top and I’ll get access to the meat. So what I’m going to do is to chop four sides on each side of the coconut. So there is one and actually the water came out pretty quickly. Let’s see if I can pour this out right away. So there we go, that is the coconut water. I don’t want to waste that. Okay now I should be able to cut this top off pretty easily. Oh! It’s a dud!
Well anyways, we got a dud coconut and this tends to happen every once in awhile. Every once in a while I will get very little coconut meat and I still can use that. But what we are looking for is a thick coconut meat and if you get one, it’s really good, it just peels off naturally. It will either peel of naturally, or take a spoon and scrape some of it out. So I’ll just scrape it out like that but we want really thick coconut meat. And one thing to be advised about is that sometimes when this are shipped overseas and they can go rancid pretty quickly. So if the water is not clear, you want to make sure that it is… try tasting it, if it taste a little salty or something then the meat is probably old and you don’t want to use it.
For the most part, I find these things show up on time and still good to use. Inside you can see there’s a very thin coconut meat. This is actually the first time I had one this empty, and of course I’m filming it for you. But anyway, I’m going to move on. So, now I will have all the coconut meat, throw that in there, throw the banana in along with the strawberries or you can actually use whatever fruit you think is best. You can use pineapple, peaches; remember this is dessert. You don’t have to use the protein. I use the protein just to get some extra protein. There’s not that much protein in this mixture and it actually tastes decent when mixed in. So I’m going to throw in a scoop, one scoop – healthy scoop. And then if you need to, in your blender you can throw in a little extra water or something and then turn it on.
So that’s it! I think you get the point. This is pretty much done, the only thing I might add different is ice, so I’m going to throw some ice in there and it’s ready to be served. A coconut, with 2 bananas and strawberries, with a scoop of protein powder and some ice will serve about 4 people. So that’s a perfect amount. I tend to drink this whole thing by myself – but that’s because I’m trying to gain weight so this was good for your whole family and I hope you enjoyed this. If you have any questions or comments, go ahead and leave them below and have a good day!”

Weight Loss Success With Beaufort Personal Training
“I used to be the kind of person in my twenties and early thirties that exercised regularly. I did aerobics maybe 3 times a week. I was active and loved the outdoors. But as “responsible adult” life took over (marriage, a son, busy job), I seemed to always need more time in my day. I eventually felt guilty for going to the gym and stopped. I slowly began to gain about a size a year. AND as life got busier, my eating habits also became worse. I ate fast food out and fast food at home (not fresh veggie choices). Over a 7-year period I became very overweight and felt self-conscious about my size. I hated being the fattest person I saw all day. My dearest friends and co-workers would try to encourage me to exercise but I had at that point begun to feel physically unable to do so. Even trying to walk daily would make my back and leg hurt. Actually it even was tough to sleep at such an overweight size. I couldn’t sleep late for fear of my back locking up and not being able to roll out of bed in the morning. I even tried diets through my doctor twice with meds and always lost some weight but yo-yo’ed back by gaining even more. I really had convinced myself that my lack of energy and aches were due to old age!
I have seen and felt some pretty amazing changes since joining EarthFIT in January. It’s not just the sizes that I’ve lost—from a 22 to a 14! It’s all about my change in attitude, strength, energy and most of all endurance! Before starting at EarthFIT, I visited the chiropractor 2 times a month for about 3 years for chronic “life” halting back pain. I knew I needed to lose weight because I could see that in the mirror. What I didn’t realize was how exercising and losing weight would take away aches that I’ve suffered with for over a decade. I was scared to start an exercise program for fear of making my back and leg pain worse. My family even thought I was crazy for joining EarthFIT because they knew how an episode could put me down and out for weeks.
Well now, 9 months later… this 42 year old feels just EXACTLY like I did at 26!!
I have energy and don’t want to sleep all the time. I find that working out is an adrenaline rush that makes me happy afterwards. Coincidentally, I’m grumpy if I have to reschedule—crazy huh? I’m not winded by just walking from the car in the parking lot at Wal-mart to the door! I have spent so much time outside this summer, feeling young again. The heat doesn’t seem to bother me as much as it has in years past. For the first spring in years I cleaned up my yard and planted flowers AND was perfectly fine the day after. The usual was a week of body pain to endure.
I have become so much smarter about the foods I put in my mouth. EarthFIT does an awesome job of educating its clients about healthy choices through daily e-mails and meal plans to follow—that I have learned to love to eat! I even planted a small garden to be able to have healthy veggies to enjoy this summer. Not to mention I know have a conscience (a small Bojan on my shoulder) telling me to choose wisely (in a Serbian accent) because the lecture at Monday night’s weigh-in is rough if the scale isn’t “looking good”. Not to worry, those weigh-ins aren’t all bad. They are amongst my new friends that are all working towards the same goals—to be healthy and earn praise from Coach! EarthFIT isn’t the meat market that most out of shape people are dreadful of—it’s all about getting the work done!
And…size does matter…especially when it comes to things like seatbelts and sitting in chairs/desks. I fly quite often and had gotten very anxious about doing so. Not scared to fly, but scared that one day the seat belt wouldn’t buckle around my waist. I also felt sorry for the person I would have to sit beside because I felt like I was in their lap. I’ve flown several times this summer and have had a lot of extra on my seatbelt strap and am amazed to see room in the seat around my hips. The desk that last year I couldn’t fit in is still the same size—and I slide in easily. Sounds trivial, but means so much to me that those “one size fits all things” are all finally my size.
Speaking of sizes… I’ve lost 8 sizes and have a lot more to go. I have given away 4 lawn/leaf bags full of clothes and love shopping again. It’s so nice to shop in regular size clothing stores and be able to wear attractive clothes. I have hated to shop for years…NOT anymore =)
I love EarthFIT and thank you ALL very much for helping me! I absolutely could’ve never done any of this without your programs and support =)”

BEAUFORT HEALTH AND FITNESS: WITH EXERCISE, AGE WON’T CREEP UP ON YOU!
There’s a country song called “I’m gonna live forever”. For those of you who don’t listen to country, try the Fame song… you get the point. Though you may or may not be able to do that – the jury’s still out there in my opinion – the good news is that you can add years to your life if you get off the couch and break a sweat. There’s a gamut of evidence already showing that fitter people live longer. And now, an article published in Archives of Internal Medicine, a journal of the American Medical Association, confirms the link between exercise and longevity.
How does Beaufort health and fitness activity increase your life span?
It’s actually quite simple according to Beaufort personal trainers or Beaufort health and fitness experts. Regular exercise, especially when combined with a healthy diet, helps prevent heart disease and cancer – two leading causes of death in the United States, as well as obesity, diabetes, and other medical conditions that can cause premature death.
Of course, it’s not just a matter of having a longer life, but a better one too. We should focus on the quality of life, not just the length of it. Beaufort health and fitness exercises will make you healthier, stronger, and fitter – physically, mentally and emotionally, so you can continue to be active and enjoy those extra years to the fullest.
Besides preventing cardiovascular disease and certain forms of cancer, as well as helping us lose weight, exercise also provides other significant benefits. To improve your overall health and quality of life. At EarthFIT, we suggest including these workouts into your regular program:
- Strength training: As we age, our muscle mass declines (defined as sarcopenia) and our body becomes weaker. From the age of 30 most of us begin losing muscle mass and that mass declines at a faster rate past the age of 50. However, strength training will not only build up muscle mass and keep the body strong, but also help prevent bone density loss that occurs in osteoporosis and osteopenia. Many of our clients at EarthFIT do our Beaufort health and fitness programs and have seen tremendous results such as increased bouts of strength in their everyday lives.
- Vigorous and brisk activity, such as interval training, not only does it strengthen your heart and speed up your metabolism so you continue to burn fat and calories hours after your workout is over, but it also increases the flow of oxygen-rich blood to the brain and encourages the formation of new brain cells. This process reduces the risk of developing Alzheimer’s and other mental conditions that diminish our cognitive abilities as we age, like dementia.
- Balance and flexibility exercises will improve your stability and coordination, keeping you from falling down and sustaining serious injuries – a big issue among older people. Beaufort personal trainers at EarthFIT contend that it will also increase your range of motion, decrease muscular tension, and strengthen your joints, tendons and ligaments – all of which will go a long way in preventing or relieving the pain and discomfort of arthritis.
