Car Crash Training Program
Everything happens for a reason…
This weekend I witnessed an intense car accident.
I was at the Port Royal farmers’ market – you know, I was out there supporting the local farmers and doing healthy stuff… 🙂
When all of a sudden, I heard a loud SMASH!!! And in the corner of my eye, I see 2 cars do pretty much a head-on collision.
I threw Khadine (My GF) the keys to put our stuff in the car and protect her from seeing any carnage that might be present, and ran to the scene, thinking that I was about to see some traumatic injuries. Passengers were rolling in the street holding their legs and from a distance it looked really BAD.
When I ran over and assessed the situation, I realized that everyone was SUPER lucky and there was no serious injury – thank God. Then I realized a client of ours was involved. So I began to walk over to her and heard a doctor on the scene (another huge blessing) ask are you OK? Her reply made my day.
She said, “I’ve been working out, so I’m OK”.
I firmly believe I was put there to hear that message.
Here’s the best part that many people who do personal training do not know: People told her she was going to be VERY sore the next day. So, the next day, I called her to check in and see how she was doing and she mentioned that she was a little sore, but nothing like people told her she would be.
I said, “do you know why?” And she replied “Why?”
I explained, the reason she wasn’t sore and didn’t have severe injuries was exactly because she has been working out.
You see, when you train properly, the body is broken down – like small traumas to the muscle, tendons, nervous system and neuromuscular system etc., analogous to a car accident. Each time you train, the body breaks down and builds itself back up. Your body gets better and faster at repairing itself. Your muscles, bones and tendons get stronger and protect your vital organs better.
Being more fit will protect your body during a car accident and increase your rate of recovery from an accident or fall and other things like surgery, ankle sprains. etc.
It quite literally can save your life…
It reminds me of my best friend growing up was the passenger of a SERIOUS drunk driving accident. It is truly a miracle he survived. The doctors did case studies on him because they didn’t know how he survived something like that. I won’t get into the details but it was REALLY bad. Aside from it being a miracle, the reason survived is he was a division I football player who had been working out and getting into “car accidents” on the football field since he was a little kid. Get my drift? His body was used to intense trauma and recovery.
Because of this, I created a new program called the “Car Crash Training Program”, this is where the trainers simulate car crashes while you are training by throwing kettle bells at you, pushing you into the walls, etc., it’s going to be a blast! Who wants in?
Just kidding, I didn’t create a program like that; that might just be illegal 🙂
So what’s the point of all this? Nothing 🙂 just to let you know that personal training at EarthFIT has benefits way beyond what you can ever imagine. It truly can create miracles BIG and Small. So keep it up and train like your life depends on it, because it seriously does.

Hey EF Fam,
I have a quick story for you…
My grandfather (Jim), we call him Poppy, grew up in “Hell’s Kitchen” NYC during the height of The Depression. For those who may not be familiar with “Hell’s Kitchen”, it was an Irish neighborhood known for being one of the poorest of places in NYC.
Needles to say, my grandfather was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Hell’s Kitchen was a gangster’s neighborhood and business was booming during Prohibition and The Depression. As Poppy has mentioned, a shoot out and killing in the street was as much a part of life as being poor. Luckily, Jim had a mother who was smart and loving.
As the story goes, my grandfather was the only one who made it out of his neighborhood without ending up dead or in jail. But he didn’t make it out without a warped relationship with money as many Depression kids did. Although, I can’t judge him, because his relationship with money might have been necessary for him to strive for better and make it out of his neighborhood, up to The Bronx – at the time, The Bronx was considered the suburbs, haha! Times have changed! And from The Bronx to his dream place in Connecticut, which for a kid from his neighborhood was liking hitting the lotto.
Anyway, my Grandfather tended to have a scarcity mentality about money that had a ripple-effect throughout the family. My father carried with him the same values or ideas about money and I too adopted that mindset. You might know the mentality of “Eat all the food on that plate, other people are starving”, “you don’t know the value of a dollar”, “money doesn’t grow on trees”, etc. I began to educate myself about mindset and belief systems that can hold us back and prevent us from fulfilling our potential. I had to let go of my old beliefs about money to get me where I am today. If I didn’t let go of those beliefs, I would have never started EarthFIT. I would have just saved my money and existed in the “security” of a good job and decent paycheck, scared to venture out and follow my dreams for fear of failure and loss of money. Since I let go of my old beliefs I was able to invest all my savings into EarthFIT and create a service better than any other. When I let go of a scarcity mindset and changed it into an abundance mentality – which is, what GREAT value can I offer the world? and implemented that – it really changed my life and was a freeing experience; much like being in good shape. And being in good shape has EVERYTHING to do with mindset and beliefs as well.
I see this mentality and ripple-effect when it comes to people’s health. They are afraid to invest in their health, even though they need it more than any other thing in life. More than they need a house, a car, some of them need it more than food to be honest. But they don’t budget health and fitness into their lifestyle, of course wine fits in the budget though :).
Don’t be a slave to old beliefs; our beliefs can enslave or liberate us. When you invest in your health and fitness, there will be a ripple-effect to your family, friends and others in the community as you may have already experienced. This is not an opinion, this is a fact that has been researched. Studies aside, I see it everyday of my life.
Here are a few examples: A girl starts training at EarthFIT and her boyfriend decides to start going to the gym and eating better and as a consequence loses weight. Or a jealous husband sees his wife getting incredible results from EarthFIT and decides to join. That might be the only time when jealousy is a positive motivator 🙂
This weekend we are having a Charity Bootcamp and it is a perfect opportunity to invite all your friends and family and create a “Ripple Effect” of health, fitness and philanthropy.
If you and your friends can make it that would be awesome! Here are the deets:
This Saturday, March 2nd at 9:30am, at the Lady’s Island location, we are hosting BootCamp For A Cause. It is a great cause at that. All donations are going to help an underprivileged student athlete pay for college through the Len Miret Memorial Scholarship which is a local charity.
We would love not only for you to join in on this great cause, but also for ALL your friends and family to join us. Please spread the word so that we can hit our goal of $1000. The minimum donation is $15 for attendees. You can sign up for the bootcamp through the link below, or give a donation if you are unable to attend but would still like to give to the cause.
Committed to your success,
Ian
